We need couples therapy …but we can’t afford it!

When we think of therapy, we generally think of it as something that’s going to cost a lot of money …especially if your problems are big and you don’t think its something that can be fixed in a session or two. The reality then is that one of the best ways to save a relationship often ends up never getting explored.

The reality though is that therapy is expensive ...but it also doesn’t have to be.

Let me explain...

The most expensive couples therapy is through the private route. It’s also the route that gives you the most flexibility of choosing which counselor you want and when. But the private route is not the only option. Couples therapy is available at reduced rates depending on your income. Therefore, money should not be a reason for either of you to use to avoid couples therapy.

Where can I find these reduced rates?

Contact your local social welfare or community center to find out how you can access the more affordable options of couples therapy. Some couples therapy can be done via email, telephone conversations etc. However, I recommend the personal touch of being face to face with them and your partner …so try and push for this type of therapy.

Some people consider the stigma attached to getting couples therapy unbearable. However, the stigma of having your relationship end should be a greater motivation factor for you to seek it rather than to avoid it. So leave your ego behind and go look at seeking a counselor in your area right now.
