Letting Go of Anger
Letting go of anger is a skill that everyone would do well to master. Some people can’t control their emotions so much so that when they are angry they are only able to resort to outbursts and acting violently.
If you are like this, you shouldn’t keep your anger inside and just wait for an eruption. Rather, what you can do is to find a way to slowly release your anger while keeping your cool and be as calm as you can possibly be.
The 6 Key Ways Of Letting Go of Anger
Get some fresh air: Sometimes when you feel mad, it’s like you’re running out of clean air. Take a walk outside and catch some fresh air. The changed setting from that where you got angry will help you change your mood as well. Feel the breeze on your cheeks as you walk along and empty your mind from the episode that made you mad.
Meditation: Meditation will help you calm your mind and your nerves. You should let go of your negative emotions by actively focusing on the here and now. Condition your mind to be happy and prevent it from dwelling on past events that made you angry. When you are calm, you can think of wiser actions to address the problem that caused your angry emotions in the first place.
Sleep: When you are angry about something or someone at home, try to sleep your anger off. Sleep will ease your tension and make you relax. After you have slept, you will not be angry anymore or if you still are, it won’t be as intense as before you slept.
Breathe deeply: This relaxation technique will allow you to stay calm when you are tensed. When you are angry, you will feel the tension wrapping all over your body. When you feel this, try deep breathings. Allow in as much air as your lungs can take and release it as slowly. Do it again and again until you feel more relaxed and ready to face your problem but now with your angry emotions under control.
Read or watch something funny: It may seem odd advice when you’re angry but the point here is for you to divert your emotions and make you calm. Youtube has a lot of humourous videos that will make you laugh out loud. After having a series of five to ten- minute non-stop laughing, you will notice that you feel much better about yourself. Now you can deal with the source of your problem minus the angry emotions.
Write your anger down: Instead of facing the source of your anger in intense fury, try writing your emotions on paper. Many find peace by simply writing their emotions down, folding the piece of paper up and throwing it away or by burning it. This has the effect of getting your anger out of you and down onto something else.
